Mike is a highly data and insight-led, collaborative, implementation-focused, on-the-ground and personable senior strategy consultant craving complex challenges to create structure, clarity, direction and realisation to maximise commercial potential for clients through identifying and delivering sustainable competitive advantage.

Mike has nearly two decades of experience as a strategy consultant, advising leading international companies and private equity funds across a broad range of sectors running Growth Strategy and formerly Hambalt Strategy Consultants after working at OC&C Strategy Consultants and Roland Berger Strategy Consultants.

With particular expertise in consumer, B2B2C, digital and real estate sectors, Mike has advised 20+ private equity transactions, portfolio companies of some of the most successful private equity funds and mid-cap to FTSE100 corporates. His growth expertise includes corporate / business unit strategies, commercial strategies, new market development, international expansion, B2C & B2B customer segmentation, proposition / format development, category / product / pricing / promotion strategies, digital strategy and M&A in addition to business transformation, organisation design, cost rationalisation and performance improvement. Mike also has extensive international experience having worked in 19 different countries and on many more, especially in international strategy work for global corporates and investors.

Mike’s operational expertise comes from his current role as CEO and Co-Founder of CrowdProperty (www.crowdproperty.com), the leading specialist property peer-to-peer (P2P) lending. Mike was named in the Peer2Peer Finance News Power 50 list in 2018 and sits on the Peer-to-Peer Finance Association board (www.p2pfa.org.uk) alongside other leading P2P platforms. CrowdProperty is FCA authorised and regulated and an HMRC approved ISA / IFISA manager.

Mike holds an MBA from London Business School, the FT Non-Executive Director Diploma, a First Class Masters in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Birmingham, is a Chartered Accountant and both CF3 and CF30 FCA authorised.

Mike's investor-minded approach has also seen him grow an 8-figure property portfolio predominantly in London as well as elsewhere in South East England and internationally. With a diversified portfolio and a deeply analytical approach to investments, he has attracted significant private investment into The Cooperative Property Company which specialises on acquiring uniquely high-yielding London residential property and co-founded CrowdProperty (www.crowdproperty.com), a property development peer to peer lender. Mike is an active angel investor in PropTech, FinTech and marketplace businesses, including Hubble, AirSorted, YourWelcome, Switchee, Land Insight, Propoly, Office R&D, Urban Intelligence, Falcon DHQ, Rialto, AskPorter, Youtility, Movem, Landbay, Howsy, Rentuu, Infabode and Syndicate Room. Mike is an LP in Funds I & II and a mentor at Pi Labs (Europe’s first and most prolific venture capital fund investing exclusively in early stage ventures in the proptech vertical) and has been appointed to the Pi Labs Investment Committee as a voting member for Fund III.

Mike is a member of the London Business School Enterprise 100 (E100) private angel investment network, the UK Business Angels Association (UKBAA) and Qandor Property Club.

Outside of the professional environment, Mike is a father of two, enjoys playing and watching sport (in particular cricket, tennis, golf and rugby), travelling (with a particular mission to 'tick off' the world's best ski-touring domains) and savouring gastronomic delights.
